I am both a yoga teacher and a holistic therapist. I began teaching hatha yoga 9 years ago, and have been counseling individuals, couples, children and families combining talk therapy with the healing practices of yoga and meditation since 2007.
I am infinitely grateful to the art and science of yoga for teaching me mindfulness, compassion and self-love. Everyday on my yoga mat is my opportunity to meet myself, exactly as I am, tight muscles, sore back, scattered mind, broken heart, whatever it is that day, and simply breathe. I practice trusting whatever it is I seek will reveal itself through my commitment to just be present.
My yoga teaching blends stillness and flow with attention to alignment and breath. I emphasize both the yin and yang of the practice, the strengthening, heating, dynamic postures as well as the relaxing, cooling and calming postures. My students leave with a whole body and being experience of strength, openness and calm.
I also bring a sense of lightness, exploration, and tenderness to my teaching creating a nurturing environment. I ensure that my students feel safe in their bodies, their movement and on their unique journey of unfolding.
I approach therapeutic treatment in a similar way. I meet my clients exactly where they are and ask them to tune in to their breath, body, your heart. With this holistic awareness, what is most helpful will naturally reveal itself. I incorporate yoga and meditation practices as appropriate moving my clients closer and closer to the answers that they seek. The deepest, truest Self is our the guide and I am the gentle director lighting the way, until that Self can be accessed lovingly, confidently and reliably without my help.
I am a registered counselor in the state of Washington #RC00057878 and hold a Masters of Arts from Bastyr University in Applied Behavioral Science, Yoga Teaching Certificates from Mount Madonna Center in California and Sarah Powers, and a BFA from Arizona State University in Modern Dance.
