Vocal /Singing Coach - I coach people of all ages. My primary focus is proper support and breathing so that no damage is done to the vocal chords, and bringing out the gift people already have. I like working in different genres of music, and like to work with people in their style of music. I would say my classes are fun and challenging, and I think people like to get inside themselves and really find their voice. I work with each student to find a song that we will work with thoroughly. I will also record the student as a means to mark progress and to give them a physical product of their hard work. I really enjoy teaching people what I love so much.
I also teach Beginning Guitar and how to play an instrument and sing. Being a songwriter, I work with other songwriters as well.
I have experience playing guitar and bass while being a lead singer, and have a great appreciation for harmony. Please go to my website www.lisamarshallmusic.com to hear samples of my music and voice.
I give a free 15 minute vocal evaluation at Northwest Guitars, where I teach, in Bellevue, if a potential student would like to get a sampler of my class, and also if someone is not sure wether or not they may the potential to really sing.
Below is a Biography on my singing experience. I have been singing out in clubs and venues for over 20 years. I am belter and have managed to keep my voice healthy. I still play out quite a bit and tour.

QUOTES FROM SOME STUDENTS:
"Lisa is a very concerned, enthusiastic, talented teacher. She takes a
special interest in her students regardless of their ability."
"Although I am a person of limited talent and never expected that I
would ever be involved in vocal training, my desire to succeed has
reached a point of satisfaction where I look forward to every lesson. I
am grateful to have found a teacher of this caliber."-
Don- retired school principal
"I was hesitant to begin voice lessons because I felt I had very little
talent. However, after 15 minutes with Lisa, I wanted to jump right in!
Lisa is a brilliant, gifted singer herself and her teaching is clear,
positive and filled with expertise and enthusiasm. She has given me the
joy that comes from singing and a lesson with Lisa is the highlight of
my week. I can't imagine not singing now, thanks to her." -

BIOGRAPHY
Lisa Marshall is a singer/songwriter who is influenced by Motown, Soul, and Rock n’Roll. Vocally inspired by vocalist like Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Mavis Staples and Janis Joplin. Her song-writing is primarily influenced by R&B, rock, and gospel such as Tina Turner, the above mentioned to Led Zeppelin, & the Rolling Stones.. I appreciate and love music so much!"
She (Lisa Marshall)"belts 'em out like Janis Joplin and can gyrate like master contortionist Joe Cocker," writes Monterey journalist Beth Peerless - Monterey Herald ; Monterey, CA.
Marshall lives in Seattle,WA. She performs locally solo with her acoustic guitar and with her band, and is working on an acoustic act with “call and answer” style vocals with her 3 backup singers. She released her first solo album ( she has recorded 3 previously with her band in S. Calif.) May of this year, 2008. The vocals are true to her style and love for R&B and Soul.
Born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA., Lisa was brought up on The Beatles, Blues ala Janis Joplin, The Allman Brothers, Crosby, Stills , Nash & Young, and her Mother’s favorite Elvis and Motown records, and is a self taught musician. In addition to vocals, Lisa also plays guitar, bass, flute, harmonica, drums and percussion. Her self taught nature and her adoration for strong, soulful female vocalist is experienced through her music, weaving from the gut belting call and answer style vocals through R&B, funky rhythms.
Lisa Marshall moved to Los Angeles, CA. at age 21. She co-founded Peculiar Boogie which she fronted for 10 years. She and guitarist, Rebekah Coltman were the primary songwriters, and along with Susan Joyner (keys) they were a unique blend of a female fronted Southern Rock band featuring R&B style vocals. The band began playing and showcasing at some of L.A.’s hot spots such as the Troubadour and the Roxy, and perform up the Coast with Robben Ford and other acts like Koko Taylor, Big Brother and the Holding Company with whom Marshall also performed. The band received air play in Monterey regularly and in Europe and put out 2 CDs. CDs are availble through CDBaby.com
