Marilyn Ines Rodriguez, a Cuban born artist living in California since 1976, is a professionally trained classical sculptor and teacher whose main focus is the traditional representation of the human figure and horses.  After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, she moved to Europe where her fervor for classical sculpture began by having the opportunity to visit and study Europe’s best art collections.  When she returned to the U.S., she pursued her classical sculpture training under the international Master Sculptor Harriet Moore.

Ms. Rodriguez's powerful style depicts a strong sense of movement, energy, and elegance that is easily recognized throughout her work.  Most of her bronze sculptures are deliberately kept to “limited editions” of nine (9).   Her horses have won "National Competitions" and "Best in Show Awards,” and her work can be found in private collections worldwide.  She also collaborates with landscape architects, city planners and interior designers in creating original commissioned sculptures and outdoor fountains.

Since 1996 Ms. Rodriguez has been sharing her knowledge and passion teaching "Classical Figure Sculpture Class with Professional Models" from her studio, and she offers sculpture workshops nationwide and one-on-one private critiques for the more advanced sculptors.  She is continually invited to give live sculpture demonstrations at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco and is also a regular participant in the annual San Francisco Orchid Show, The San Francisco Garden Show, and The Art of Home Show where most recently, she has been asked to give a public lecture on “the facts and misconceptions of sculpture and the lost wax casting process.”  In addition to her passion for sculpture, Ms. Rodriguez offers commissioned true to life, hand-drawn family portraits.

Her book “The Human Skeletal System, from an Artist's Perspective”, a must have for all artists interested in increasing their knowledge of the human figure, will be available in January, 2012.

Ms. Rodriguez is a selected member of the Art Renewal Center’s Living Artists Gallery as an ARC Living Master Artist™
