  Mary is kind, friendly and really knows writing. She knows how to seqence assignments so a writer can build on previous writing activities. She creates a relaxed and welcoming writing atmoshpere. Sharing your writing in a group is relaxed, comfortable, and most importantly, supportive. I wouldn't hesitate to take more writing classes with her!

  This was my first writing class. It's focus was journaling childhood memories. It was my very good fortune to have a teacher of Mary's caliber. Mary's teaching style breeds comfort among her students and allows them to be focused and attentive. Mary promotes learning not only through comfort but through a mastery of the art of writing. Her vast knowledge and experience is imported in a friendly and helpful manner. Humor and laughter oil the instruction and produce pure, relaxed, fun. Mary's sole purpose is to build writers who enjoy writing. These fortunate writers learn well, laugh well and leave with a bit more talent than they brought. Mary is the best.

  Review of Gratitude Journal Writing Workshop, October 27, 2009

  Mary is a fantastic teacher.... thru her last workshop, "Transitions" she took the class on an insightful journey of self-exploration. Her prompts and questions provoke rich self-examination and she cultivates a warm and inviting space for participants to learn from each other, as well. I would definitely take another class from Mary, and hope I get to, soon!

  Mary engages you into a new way of thinking. She got me in touch with a voice that I did not know I had prior to her class. "My writing voice" Her instruction is thought provoking and encouraging. The classroom environment was calm and open minded.

  I took Mary's last class, "Transitions Journal Writing." Through her insightful "assignments" she brought me to the heart of what was really important and how that could be used in future decisions I am in the process of making. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole class and the interactions with all of the great women in the class! The location, TT Patton's is also well worth the visit!!!
