Clarinetist Maryanne Lacaille has won rave reviews in New York, Milan, London and Copenhagen for her rich dark beautiful sound and playing with such great interpretative depth and strength passion and intensity. She currently holds woodwind chairs at Everett Community College and the Academy of Music Northwest in addition to teaching clarinet students starting from middle school through high school and including students at the university level.
Maryanne began studies at the Boston Conservatory of Music where she studied with Attilio Poto and Harold Wright (principal with Boston Symphony). She also additionally studied with Gino Cioffi and William Wrszesian (both adjunct professors at the New England Conservatory of Music). During her summer studies she was accepted for 2 summer sessions at Tanglewood Orchestra 1978-79 under the direction of Aaron Copland.
After the completion of her Bachelor Degree in Clarinet Performance,she was accepted to the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) to begin studies for her Masters Degree with Joe Contino and was attending on a Graduate Assistantship Program.
Upon relocation to the Pacific Northwest, Maryanne continued her Masters Degree at Central Washington University with Dr. Raymond Wheeler and completed graduation in1990.
Maryanne currently resides in Seattle where she maintains an active clarinet studio with around 28 students. She is principal with Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra and subs for the Everett and Lake Union Civic Orchestras. In addition to her educational background, she has toured with many Broadway Shows including Phantom and West Side Story throughout Europe. International tours include: West Side Story at LaScala in Milan Italy, Carousel (east coast tour with 101 Productions) Annie Get Your Gun, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Chorus Line, (Dreamcoat, Phantom, Cats- this tour featured the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber in a worldwide tour which started at Beijing's "Great Hall of the People").
In December 2008 Trio Di Buson was formed with outstanding artists including Julliard Doctorate Cellist: Chungs Kim and award-winning composer/pianist: Johnny Rose along with Maryanne Lacaille presented a world premiere concert at Merkin Hall in New York.
Here in the Seattle area, Maryanne is accepting students interested in learning Bb and Bass Clarinets all levels all ages.
