MATHNASIUM The Math Learning Center

My name is Jodi Ralston and I have been a math teacher and tutor for over twenty years, and I own and manage Mathnasium of Chatham and Mathnasium of Summit with my husband, James. These two math-only learning centers serve Morris, Union and Essex Counties in New Jersey, and are part of the Mathnasium family of math-only learning centers operating across the US and around the world. I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota where I earned my Masters Degree in Mathematics Education. As a dedicated teacher and mother of four, I believe students need to learn and truly understand mathematics including its underlying concepts rather than simply try to memorize math steps, procedures and algorithms. One of the key attributes that most attracted my husband and me to the Mathnasium family is its excellent teaching methods and curriculum. Mathnasium's "Prescriptive" materials and "Workout" books keep students fully engaged with mathematics to enjoy Mathnasium as a source for foundational learning, enrichment activities and excellent games. When asked what sets Mathnasium apart from so many other learning centers and private tutors, I explain that we are unique because of our singular focus on teaching mathematics well with expert, caring instructional staff using our own excellent curriculum and guided by our philosophy of teaching in a manner that makes sense to each student as an individual learner. Furthermore, Mathnasium's comprehensive diagnostic assessments enable each child to have an individualized learning plan custom fit to his/her unique needs -- whether advanced, remedial, or anywhere in between. At both our Chatham and Summit centers, we teach and tutor elementary and middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus and statistics. We also provide test prep for the SAT/ACT and AP exams.
