The McGrail Vineyards and Winery, founded by Jim and Ginger McGrail, was planted in 1999 with the intent of producing the finest Cabernet grapes in the Livermore Valley as well as rival Cabernet grapes from the Napa Valley.

After 4 years of selling their fruit they decided to try and make some wine for friends and family. One thing led to the next and the McGrail's decided to start producing wine commercially.

In April 2008, the McGrail's had their Grand Opening with their new tasting room. They are currently only pouring Cabernets all grown at the estate.
