I have worked with dogs for 30 years, and full time since 2000. For 20 years, I ran Software sales organizations, and went on to train salespeople in a variety of industries, but my passion was for animals. I now enjoy training canines full time, and teaching dog handlers as well as owners about canine basic obedience. I was the Lead Trainer at A LUCKY DOG where I designed, taught and certified their trainers nationwide. I also taught Petco Canine Education associates in Northern California how to be certified Petco trainers. I continue holding dog training classes every week at Petco, Pacifica Parks and Recreation dept, and in individual sessions. The book we have written (Well, Dozer the dog wrote, but I translated) is available and will really help owners become great parents with well behaved dogs. Dozer tells the truth about what Pawsitive Thinking is really about.
I specialize in behavior problems, and the dog training classes include; puppy and basic obedience training, CGC preparation classes (intermediate basic obedience) and trick/clicker training. I also teach Red Cross First Aid for Pets.
I've also been qualified by The American kennel Club to test for the Canine Good Citizen certification, and am a current member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) and IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals).
I began my education at UC Davis, got my MBA at CSU Sacramento (Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year with a 4.0 GPA), and continue my canine education at ongoing courses including those from APDT, IACP and the University Of Colorado Veterinary School. I am also current with my certification in Pet First Aid.
I have basically gone to the dogs.
Successes have included a variety of breeds: Wolves, Chihuahuas, Pit-bulls and several All Americans (very mixed breeds). I enjoy working with puppies and their owners, and solving mysteries of canine behavior. I have been trained at UC Davis in Learning Theory and Ethology, and predominately use Operant Conditioning, Classical Conditioning, Counter conditioning, and Desensitization (Behavior modification and Positive reinforcement). Dogs and Owners alike have fun while learning.
Some of my specialties include:
* Separation anxiety reduction,
* Addressing common behavior issues like excessive barking, digging, pulling, jumping and mouthing or biting.
* Mommy and doggie preparation for the big event day,
* Aggressive dog behavior modification
* Teaching good manners: Peace when visitors arrive, sitting quietly for attention and other gentle behaviors
* And of course, Puppy training
