Phil Hansen has been a full time music teacher since 1973 and has taught at 2 colleges, 2 high schools, and in many music stores since that time. He currently teaches private lessons on Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, and Bass in Auburn on Mondays at Green River Music, Tuesdays in Redmond at Mills Music, Wednesdays in Kent at East Hill Music, on Thursday in Issaquah at Mills Music, on Fridays, Saturdays and in the mornings in Enumclaw at Cassandra Music. His classroom work includes Wednesday evenings at Green River Community College extension in Enumclaw and on Tuesday Mornings at The Academy in Auburn.

In addition to his teaching and perfomeming schedules Phil has written six published guitar, mandolin, and bass manuals, and many assorted articles on guitar styles and techniques for local trade magazines including The Victory Music Folk and Jazz Review, Ancient Victories, and The Current. He is also a regular contributor to the discussions at The Acoustic Guitar Forum.

Phil has been performing as a vocalist and guitarist in the greater Puget Sound Region for many years. His main acoustic guitar interests center on the Contemporary Fingerstyle and Contemporary Flatpicking arenas. His fun, informative, and entertaining shows would consist of an eclectic mix of ragtime, ragtime/blues, jazz standards, blues, pop, and folk material performed with vocals. As a performing musician since the middle 1960s Phil has performed as a solo performer and has worked with many groups and venues. He performed with Cassandra (1977-'86), Phil & Kathye (1986-92), Squirrel Heads and Gravy (1996-'06), The VZ Valley Boys (2006-'10), StillwaterHill (2010), and currently plays over 120 shows a year as a solo and with the groups Acoustic Couti and The "A" Team. He has been an orchestra pit musician for 6 musicals and played with the East Side Gospel Orchestra ('92). He has performed in many venues including state and county fairs, street fairs, restaurants, coffee houses, festivals, weddings, parties, and even business meetings.
