Phil Hansen has been a performing musician since 1966. He has played bluegrass, jazz, blues, ragtime and folk music in solo and group settings. In recent years, Phil has played guitar with The VZ Valley Boys, Squirrel Heads And Gravy, Gypsy Joes Jute Box, and worked as a solo ragtime/blues fingerstyle guitarist. A multi-instrumentalist, Phil plays and teaches guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin.
In addition to his work as a musician, Phil has worked as a music instructor in individual and group settings. His teaching experience includes over 20 years of teaching full and part-time for 2 colleges, 2 high schools, 2 junior highs, and many many classes at other schools, stores and studios. guitar classes at Green River and Bellevue Community Colleges. Phil is the author of The Guitar Instructor, a four volume series of books published by Cassadra Music and has just released his fifth book The Mandolin Instructor. He currently teaches classes for Green River Community College as well as private lessons on Guitar, Bass, Mandolin and Banjo at Mills Music in Redmond, Mills Music in Issaquah, Kennelly Keys Southcenter, Green River College in Enumclaw, Green River Music in Auburn and His private studio in Enumclaw.
