Ingo Weigel is the author of “SELF-DEFENSE FOR MODERN TIMES”, the first book on Revat, an innovative fitness and self-defense program for professional adults living in an urban environment.
Growing up in former East Germany, martial arts were limited and controlled by the iron fist of the communist government. Ingo Weigel always had an interest in learning self-defense and protecting himself. Traditional martial arts didn’t appeal to him since they required an enormous amount of flexibility and many years of training before seeing any results. So he started to box his way through the ring only to find himself looking for something better. After the wall came down in 1989, Weigel got more seriously involved in martial arts. Not finding what he was looking for he started his own journey with a friend and colleague to create a program that can be learned and applied effectively by “average built” adults living in the 21st century.
They discovered that traditional self-defense and martial arts programs are missing some very important elements. Neglecting these elements is the reason why most adults are not able to benefit from martial arts training. After many years of study, trial and error Revat was born. Revat is highly effective and based on principles that can be applied easily to one’s height and fitness level. Revat is the missing link to Personal Safety for professional adults living and working in an urban environment. It also can compliment traditional and mixed martial arts due to its unique focus on tactile reflex training.
In 2000, Ingo Weigel decided to leave Germany and move to the US. He opened the REVAT TRAINING CENTER in Chicago, IL offering regular group classes, private instructions and corporate workshops. Ingo is fluent in English and German.
