Rick Lanning is the real thing. His years of performing, writing and studying, make him a desirable teacher and mentor. Rick knows how to “read” his students, helping them develop their skills and become the players or singers they want to be. It doesn’t hurt that they will also have a great time. Rick has played guitar professionally for over 25 years and has graced many stages in the central Ohio area. He is also an accomplished singer, banjo player and teacher.
In addition, Rick plays mandolin, violin and harmonica. Rick is constantly writing with his songwriting team, The Ohio 3, and enjoys watching the songs develop and grow. His current project is called Missing Daybreak.
Rick’s gentle demeanor and attention to the student, make for a comfortable environment of learning and gratification. He truly cares that his students get the same satisfaction from their music experience that he does from his.

Rick is a fantastic music instructor with a wealth of music and entertainment knowledge and experience. Rick is down to earth and approachable and conducts his lessons in a very relaxed and methodical style. With years of instruction experience, Rick has a knack for teaching the way a specific student learns, and tailoring the lessons to match that student's ability and expectations.
While I had a background in music (percussion) when I began lessons with Rick, I had no previous guitar experience. He was able to advise me on purchasing a guitar and selecting all the proper gear. From there we began working through chords and scales, maintenance and care for the instrument, music notation, and even music theory.
Rick's demenor and instruction style is very layed back and comfortable - and his knowledge and experience is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to take lessons.
I urge anyone in the Central Ohio area looking to take private lessons to consider contacting Rick. I can't speak highly enough of him.
