I have been making, tuning, repairing, and teaching the Native American flute for over ten years. In addition, I am a member of the International Native American Flute Association (INAFA) and the facilitator for the Healing Earth Resources Native American Flute Circle ... currently meeting and teaching at the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian in Evanston, Illinois.
We teach three basic skills. The first is a simple six note flute scale. The second is the identification and use of a short list of embellishments (how to make six notes sound interesting). And finally, I believe everyone is born with a song in their heart ... so the third skill is about how to find and play that (those) songs. Join us ... it's fun!
