Sew Right was started back in 1978 by Harvey Federman. Harvey was the head warranty technician for The Singer Company in Queens NY from 1973-1976, repairing over 2500 machines per year! He left to become service manager for a chain of Singer stores. Out of that experience came Harvey starting Sew Right.
Since our early beginnings, Sew Right has grown from a small repair shop selling Singers to offering the world's finest sewing products, backed up by the best "after sales" service anywhere. We believe this is what has made Sew Right the most respected and recognized sewing store in New York!
Staff members Mary Ann Kotowski, Elaine Jansen, Laurie Liang and Aarona Weinberg are all passionate sewers, quilters and embroiderers and comprise the most knowledgeable and helpful staff anywhere.
Harvey, along with technician Jim Parsons have close to 60 years of repair experience between them on all makes and models of sewing machines, sergers and embroidery machines. That is why our customers along with TV Networks, Broadway Theaters, College costume and wardrobe departments as well as school districts all over NYC and Long Island trust us to repair their sewing equipment.
Often imitated, some dealers copy our ideas, even change their name to sound like ours. But there is only one Sew Right Sewing Machines. Please give us a try if you haven't already and see why we say, "Experience the Difference".
