My mother's friend recommended Shaun Paul when I was looking for a cello teacher. I have been learning the art of cello from Shaun Paul since 2006. I started playing the cello in middle school and I have really enjoyed it ever since. My technique has improved so much during the last two years when I was at Tyee Middle School that the conductor Ms. Heather DeHart named me as the most improved student from the entire eighth grade. My improvement simply shows that Shaun is a FABULOUS teacher. I have learned a tremendous amount covering everything from thumb position, double stops, scales, etudes, proper and effective techniques, good tuning, and great solo pieces. What I love most about the lessons is playing duets. It is simply a joy to play such beautiful music with another cellist. The beautiful melody and harmony blend into beautiful music. Shaun is a great teacher. I would consider Shaun more than a good teacher, he is also my mentor and friend.

I laugh, life is joyous...It must be a lesson day with Shaun.

I am emotionally moved...I think that I feel off of my chair...Shaun must have showed me how to play some passage on his cello.

Shaun Paul was my pre-teen son's cello/music teacher for 2 years. [For perspective, my son had taken cello lessons for a year prior, and piano lessons for 5 years before that.] I am very pleased to write that my son always left his lessons feeling good about the experience, and that he tried harder because Shaun Paul was his teacher.

Shaun Paul is a nurturing, encouraging teacher. [If you want a teacher who is rigid and demanding, you should look elsewhere.] He is sensitive to the fact that music is a very personal experience, and will work with his students to make their time with him rewarding and productive.

Shaun Paul has tremendous skill and knowledge as a musician and cellist, and an ability to impart these to his students - along with a dose of excitement.

Shaun Paul is a brilliant artist, composer, and musician, who has the patience to work with my son who has developmental and neurological deficits.

He is the kind of instructor that one would expect would count candidates for the best music schools in the world as his students. Yet, he has the compassion to work with my son who will likely not make music a career.

As a parent with a developmentally disabled child, I frequently hear how studying music is the best kind of therapy for a host of reasons and yet finding a music instructor willing to work at a slow pace is not easy.

Shaun Paul makes learning about music theory, learning cello technique, and playing - fun for my child. He looks forward every week to his time with Shaun Paul and won't give up his lesson time for anything.

Shaun Paul is professional and an excellent instructor but he is also adept at making each session more about the process rather than focusing solely on the end result. As a result, music lessons are a joyful journey and they are truly inspirational.

We feel blessed to have found Shaun Paul and that he allows us to continue to be part of his studio.

Shaun Paul is a great teacher. He has the ability to teach in different styles and manners to complement the student. He also has a great love of the instrument which in my opinion is of the utmost value in a teacher!

I would recomend him to anyone from a begining student to the advanced. I am very happy with the level of professionalism that Shaun displays! I am sure that you will find the same!
