Born in Okayama Japan in 1950 and came to the United States in 1973. Attended Holy Names College to finish general education majoring in liberal arts. He then transferred to San Francisco State University where he majored in film making, graduating cum laude in 1979.
In 1981 he joined the studio Pottery 7 in San Francisco and in 1986 he moved to Berkeley where he built his own studio.
He has been awarded the certificate of Sokakan (Professor) from Ikenobo Ikebana School and teaches flower arranging at his studio in Berkeley, California.
