"SHUJI IKEDA, A SUPERB IKEBANA TEACHER"

Review of Shuji Ikeda, December 12, 2008
Talented in many artistic disciplines, Shuji Ikeda holds the rank of Sokayo Professor, Ikenobo School of Ikebana, is a nationally recognized potter, and has a background in film.
Mr. Ikeda has studied Ikebana for more than 25 years. When asked why he chose to study the art form, he said flowers provide an opportunity to express oneself and communicate without benefit of language. He has given demonstrations and exhibited his work in the United States and Japan. In 2007,Public Television featured Shuji Ikeda in SPARK, KQED's portal for arts and culture in Northern California.
Shuji Ikeda is infinitely patient, fun, and a superb artist. He teaches classes for beginners and advanced students in his Berkeley studio.

Review of Shuji Ikeda, December 11, 2008
I cannot say enough about Shuji Ikeda's teaching skills!
He is not only a sculptor and artist, he has all the technical,
philosophic and creative knowledge necessary to teach this
very complex art form.
He truly understands all the endless rules, nuances and
technicalities necessary to understand and perform this
particular form of flower arranging; and more importantly,I
think ,he understands the philosophic and human elements
so necessart to accomplish these arrangements.
Shuji is patient, enthusiastic and very articulate, always making
the endless rules and contradictions both tolerable and fun.
Although most Ikebana students consider that this is an art
form that takes a lifetime to learn, Shuji makes each lesson
a step forward on both a technical and philosophic level. and
makes the endless path seem very joyful and attainable.
I can't recommend Shuji highly enough and consider myself very
lucky to be able to participate in his classes.

Review of Shuji Ikeda, December 07, 2008
If you are interested in learning from a teacher who has the skills to not only teach the techniques of ikebana but who can also teach life skills, then Shuji Ikeda is the teacher you would want.
Shuji is patient and gentle. He has a wonderful sense of humor and makes learning seem so easy and fun.
He teaches the beauty of nature and also the application of that beauty to your inner self.
He is a wise and wonderful person.
