StraighterLine is led by CEO and Founder Burck Smith. Prior to starting StraighterLine, Burck co-founded and ran SMARTHINKING, an online tutoring service used by hundreds of colleges. He is joined by education industry veterans David Parento and Josef Katz.

StraighterLine's course materials come from McGraw-Hill and were originally adapted for StraighterLine's format by SMARTHINKING's education team. Additionally, StraighterLine's courses undergo rigorous scrutiny by respected academics and administrators at our Partner Colleges, by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) -- a federally recognized accreditor, and by the American Council on Education's (ACE) Credit Recommendation Service.
