Tiffany Kettel is currently completing a Master of Arts degree at the University of Oregon studying violin and viola. She has studied violin pedagogy with nationally renowned pedagogues Joanne Bath, Anne Witt, Martha Shackford, Teri Einfeldt and Betsy-Stuen Walker, Fritz Gearhart, Kathryn Lucktenberg, and Leslie Straka. She has studied advanced violin and viola pedagogy both at The University of Alabama and The University of Oregon and participated in Suzuki Institutes in Newberg, Eugene and Atlanta. Her current Suzuki qualifications are concentrated in the first four books of the sequence in both violin and viola, and early childhood music theory for preschoolers and beyond. Tiffany has also completed the training for the curriculum Music Together, a research based early childhood music program, and is working towards licensure.
Tiffany currently performs with the medieval ensemble Madroña as the vocalist, turkish spike fiddle player, and vielliest, interpreting Western European, Mozarabic and Sephardic music from the 12th and 13th centuries with influences from modern and ancient folk traditions. She is also a member and performer of violin and viola and voice of the Oregon Bach Collegium that brings “historically informed performance” to the music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Before the emergence of middle-class musical societies in the 17th century (of which collegium musicum was the most common designation), polyphonic vocal and instrumental music was the exclusive provenance of either the church or the royal courts.
