I started learning music at a young age, first exploring playing piano and then also on the cello. Music's been a part of my life for a very long time. As a teacher I encourage my students to learn how to develop their own skills as a self educator, I try to assist students in finding joy and eagerness in practicing, playing, performing. I teach a variety of methods. My own background is in classical repertoire. I maintain that building a strong foundation in technique and music reading assists a musician in whichever genre they decide to pursue.

I'm a player of toy pianos, classical music, experimental music, popular music. Lessons can be and will be at the pace you want them to be.

I studied at the California Institute of the Arts with pianist Peter Miyamoto, violinist Leroy Jenkins and trumpeter/composer Wadada Leo Smith, and earned my Bachelors at the Cornish School in Seattle, WA. There I studied with Laura Kaminsky and Oksana Ezhokina. Some awards I've gotten are a fellowship from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, acceptance to the Institute and Festival of Contemporary Performance in NY, an Artist Trust GAP grant and a City of Seattle Arts and Cultural Affairs CityArtist Project grant.
