While I spent the first 20 years of my life immersed in left-brain style classical music, I've spent the last 20 years performing in improvisational blues, funk, world music and jazz fusion. I am very comfortable with teaching both beginners as well as more advanced students and will create a program of learning that will be specialized to the kind of music that you wish to learn. Reading, theory, ear-training, technique, and improvisation are all part of the package. All ages welcome.

I am a graduate of both the Juilliard School of Music and Princeton University, as well as a founding member of the successful northwest bands Superkali and Swamp Mama Johnson. I also perform and record regularly with several bands around Seattle, Bellingham, and Portland. Please contact me for more information at saxbomb@yahoo.com or 206-271-8093.

Review of Tracy Ferrara, September 24, 2009

I had not played saxophone for over 30 years when I started looking for a teacher to help me develop my tone and improvisational skills. I feel lucky to have found Tracy. Within the first minutes, she spotted something about my embouchure that my earlier teachers had either missed or not bothered to mention and the improvement in my sound was immediate. Over the course of the summer, Tracy presented a series of approaches to improvisation in ways that were easy to understand and made lots of sense. I think she's intuitive about and sensitive to the learning styles of her students and a very fine teacher. I would unreservedly recommend her to anyone.

My two boys (9 and 11) really like Tracy. One plays the clarinet, the other a saxophone. As a parent, it is important to me that they want to go to their lessons
and learn more. They have made great progress and I credit Tracy with making this happen. She is enthusiastic and fun. We love her.
