Marie Segares, Proprietress of the Underground Crafter, has been crocheting for over 25 years. She learned to crochet during summers spent with her maternal grandmother. Marie is also a knitter, quilter, embroiderer, and soapmaker.
Marie is a Craft Yarn Council Certified Crochet Instructor (Level I) and Certified Crochet Teacher (Level II). She specializes in teaching individual and small group crochet lessons for beginner through advanced intermediate students and knitting classes for beginner students. In addition to private lessons, Marie teaches at the Brooklyn Workshop Gallery, the DC 37 Saturday Activity Program, and at Michaels Manhattan. She also taught crochet lessons through the Barnard College Mini Course program for several years.
In addition to teaching, Marie designs her own patterns and makes handmade items for sale by commission, at New York area craft fairs, and on Etsy. Marie is an Professional member of the Crochet Guild of America and a Designer/Teacher member of The Knitting Guild Association. Marie is also a member of the New York City Crochet Guild.
