I teach voice lessons at my home studio in Lake Forest Park which is located right off of I-5 (take exit 177) by Ballinger Way. Minutes away from the freeway, yet serene and private, it offers a beautiful location in which to grow your skill as a vocalist. My Teaching Background I have been teaching private voice lessons for over 20 years and singing professionally even longer. I attended Central Washington University and sang lead soprano in the award-winning vocal jazz choir directed by John Moawad. While still a student, my female, vocal jazz quartet, Sudden Touch, gained national attention and was featured on the cover of the Jazz Educators Journal. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree, cum laude, I decided to focus more on classical singing and opera studying with some of the finest classical teachers in Seattle. The Queen of the Night from Mozart's Magic Flute has become somewhat of a "signature role" although I have sung other lyric and coloratura roles as well as concert work. Currently, I perform both opera and jazz as well as some pop and R&B as well. I love to expand and grow. My students regularly receive Superior ratings at the State Solo and Ensemble contest and go to state and are selected for All-State and All Northwest Choir. My students have attended top colleges such as Berklee School of Music and New York University among others. Many are now enjoying careers as successful teachers and professsional singers. My Teaching Philosophy I see singing as a physical discipline much like sports. Learning to sing well is more about becoming aware of your habits and choosing to build a technique which will support your musical goals. I focus on the basics of vocal technique for everone: breathing, posture, alignment, relaxation, open vowels, etc. Then I will help you learn to alter and add to that basic foundation in order to sing the vocal styles of your choice. I've worked with singers who sing jazz, pop, rock, R&B, country, funk, folk, alternative, classical, opera, church and all styles of musical theatre as well as belt. Besides healthy singing, I don't have an agenda in my studio. I help you become the kind of singer YOU want to be.
