Visually Speaking was founded by Melissa “echo” Greenlee in Seattle, Washington as a means to jump-start the communication process between pre-verbal babies and their parents. Parents could not get enough of her classes and it wasn’t long before she expanded her curriculum to include teaching toddlers, pre-schoolers and school-aged children. Visually Speaking incorporates many ideas and teaching methods, including those from the SIGN with your BABY(r) program developed by child researcher, Joseph Garcia. Visually Speaking Instructors come from a variety of backgrounds including Native ASL users (Deaf or CODA), Teachers, and Certified ASL Interpreters. Being a Deaf owned and operated business, Visually Speaking offers a unique combination of cultural and educational experience and is committed to spreading Sign Language to people in all walks of life.
