“When the Earth is sick, the animals will begin to disappear, when that happens, The Warriors of the Rainbow will come to save them."
—Chief Sealth (Seattle), Suquamish

Rose De Dan, Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing LLC, is a paq’o and mesa carrier in the Q'ero Peruvian Andean Medicine Tradition, considered to be one of the last unbroken shamanic lineages in the world today. She is also an animal communicator, Reiki Master Teacher, author and artist. In practice and in partnership with her companion animals, Rose offers private sessions and ceremonies for humans and animals, and teaches classes and workshops in Reiki and shamanism in Seattle.

UNLEASH YOUR ANIMAL SPIRIT

As a child growing up in South Jersey, when she didn’t have her nose stuck in a book, Rose could usually be found under the table with the dogs, outside communing with the willow tree, or curled up, sharing secrets with the cats. The animals, the stones, the trees were her friends and companions, and reading fairy tales made this all seem quite normal.

As she grew older a different picture began to emerge. One day as she was walking down a neighborhood street, trailed by a line of cats, a boy on a bike stopped in wonder at the parade and blurted out, “What are you, some kind of witch?”

And Rose sadly realized that not everyone understood it was possible to communicate with animals and the natural world. She began to hide what she knew from others, and in putting her dreams away, she forgot about them.

THINK OUTSIDE THE CAGE

In 1996, while living in Worcester, Mass., Rose felt drawn to take a class in Reiki. During the attunement process she had a life-changing experience and was gifted with a vision of a healing practice for animals. In pursuing that vision, Rose began to remember her childhood dreams and passion to help animals. In the process of becoming an energy healer, animal shaman, and voice for the animals, Rose found her practice evolving into building bridges between people and domestic and wild animals, healing all in the process.

A dapper black and white tuxedo cat Shaman made teaching and healing the clients and students his special focus. By working in tandem with Rose in sessions for people, Shaman, now crossed over into Spirit, helped create the principal philosophies of Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing: equality between species, and animals as teachers and healers. Shaman was followed in the practice by Saqqara, second in command, and by Kiya, Cougar, Sand, and dog, Cerne (now in Spirit), and most recently, Puma.

And the evolution continued with the assistance of Rose's animal clients as well. During the session they would ask, “Please help my person. He/she is unhappy.”

Thus Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing was created, pioneering one of the first professional energy healing practices for people and animals in the U.S.

There were lots of adventures along the way and plenty of challenges and growth opportunities, some of which are documented in Rose's book Tails of a Healer: Animals, Reiki and Shamanism, featuring 45 true, heartwarming stories about animals and their roles in her life and evolution as an energy worker and shamanic healer.

Rose continues to write new articles for her blog, has another book in the works, and has given radio and print interviews.

BACKGROUND

As a mesa carrier, Rose was fortunate enough to receive many Karpays (transmissions of power) directly from Don Manual Quispe, Q’ero elder and Altomesayoq in the Andean Medicine Tradition. Don Manuel was a highly respected elder, believed to be the last who could speak directly to the Apus (mountain spirits).

Rose trained in Reiki Levels I and II with Reiki Master Kathleen Wilk and in Master Teacher level with Reiki Master Mary Gallo. Additional training included the wisdom of Native American and Peruvian shamans, Tibetan Buddhist monks, T’ai Chi and Qigong instructors, and animal teachers. Specific shamanic teachers include Q’ero elder don Manuel Quispe; Denise Kinch, Pachamama Healing Center; Alberto Villoldo, The Four Winds; Jose Luis Herrera; Mary Blankenship, Wiracocha Institute; and Nipmuc medicine men Little Turtle and Sleeps with Eyes Open.

In addition to her shamanic training and Reiki certifications, Rose has a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature from Clark University and a background in graphic design. She enjoys blending all with her love of photography to create beautiful and unique gifts for animal lovers, Reiki and shamanic practitioners. Her website also offers shamanic gifts and supplies as well as Peruvian imports.
