Affiliate Purna Yoga Instructor and Tea Specialist
YOGA
An Affiliate Purna Yoga teacher, I completed her 500-hour training at Yoga Centers in Bellevue, Washington under the direction of Aadil Palkhivala and is thus registered and recognized by Yoga Alliance at that level (RYT-500).
My first teacher training was a 200-hour Hatha training in 2003 at Shambava Yoga School in Rollinsville, Colorado. I have continued to grow as both a student and teacher, taking therapeutic workshops with senior teachers within and outside of the Purna Yoga™ lineage. I also maintains a regular meditation practice with Mirra.
Growing up in Washington, D.C., I felt the need to expand her horizons and traveled west to California where I attended Pitzer College. Later, I traveled to China and Taiwan where I lived for six years polishing my Mandarin language skills and studying Chinese Medicine. Upon my return, I received a Master’s Degree from Cornell University in City and Regional Planning.
I have taught group classes at various studios in the metropolitan Seattle area and work with clients therapeutically in private, individual sessions. In that work I have a gentle approach of empowering and encouraging that others say is very “calming”.
TEA
I have been a connoisseur of tea since I was a toddler. Returning from a trip to China my Father sparked this interest by demonstrating the brewing process – pouring hot water over rolled tealeaves in a mug. Just as that brew crossed my palette, so too has it crossed nearly every day since.
As mentioned above, my interest in health and tea took me to Shanghai where I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine. The city was in the throes of massive development, home to 1/3 of the world’s construction cranes. Amid that chaos I found comfort in the serenity of Chinese teahouses and teashops, sharing in traditional Chinese culture not found elsewhere. After graduating, the call of tea brought me back to China where I remained for six years.
I consult, buy, cater and conduct tastings with the mission of educating both person and palette to the finer points of tea.
