Portland Chinese Language School was founded by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association in 1911. The decades of history have enhanced and enriched both the curriculum and the school community.
The school is located in the historical CCBA building in central Chinatown. There are fifteen classrooms as well as a second floor library. The CCBA building is also home to the Portland Chinese History Museum located at the fourth floor. The main floor houses a 200 seat auditorium frequently used for cultural events and activities.
The majority of students are from the Portland and Vancouver metro areas. Teachers come from a wide range of professional disciplines and dedicate their weekends to the promotion of Chinese Education.
The CCBA offers Cantonese, Mandarin, Conversation, Calligraphy and Chinese Word Processing. Classes are held on Saturdays and students are divided from level one to six based on written and oral comprehension. In addition, we also provide a handful specialized adult classes.
