Zach Stewart

Zach Stewart is a guitarist and songwriter/composer who makes his home in Seattle Washington. He performs around all over the West Coast in his own groups or as a sideman. He enjoys playing many different styles and playing his own original music. Zach migrated to Seattle in 2000 in order to further his musical endeavors. He attended Cornish College of the Arts where he studied jazz music. After a brief stint of freelancing work, Zach joined up the popular Northwest jam/rock band, Flowmotion. He toured extensively and recorded 3 records with the band before departing in 2007 to pursue new musical endeavors. Zach has performed throughout the U.S. and Canada including highlight performances at Folsom Prison, Summer Meltdown, Northwest Folklife Festival, and the High Sierra Music Festival. He also had the pleasure of performing with a diverse cast of artists such as Mark Taylor, Michael Franti, Tony Furtado, Jessica Lurie, Vicci Martinez, Skerik, Briggan Krauss, Steve Kimock, The Staxx Brothers, and American Idol star, Blake Lewis. He is also a recipient of the 2008 Jackstraw Artist Support residency.

Zach has over 14 years of teaching experience under his belt. He brings with him, a philosophy built on a creative openness, solid music fundementals, and an interest in many different kinds of music. His students range from singer/songwriters and rock guitarists, to aspiring jazz musicians and composers. Zach's teaching style puts an emphasis on developing efficient practice habits and helping each student find a learning process that suits their musical goals, regardless of level or ability.
