I love the joyous, celebratory music and dance of this dance and how it celebrates women and life ! I love sharing it with women and students through classes, performances, and workshops. I stumbled into the fascinating world of Middle Eastern dance 30 years ago and was instantly captivated by the music and the joyous dances. I have been studying, teaching, and performing Middle Eastern dances ever since. Prior to relocating to Washington, I was a founding member of Jawaahir Dance Company (1989- 2007) and taught beginner through advance dance students at the Cassandra School. In my quest for authenticity and cultural aesthetics, I have traveled nationally and internationally to study with master teachers of various Arab dances including trips to Egypt, Lebanon, and Morocco.

I've been taking belly dance lessons for over 6 years and I've never enjoyed it more than this year with ZULAIKA. She's a wonderful teacher and makes class a lot of fun. Every class is an exciting adventure--there is always something special. We are so lucky to have her here in the Seattle area as a teacher. See's the one to watch...

Zulaika is a masterful and experienced teacher, building from a foundation of warm-ups and strengthening exercises specific to the dance to fun and challenging combinations.
She always has a smile on her face and she works very hard to explain the specifics of a movement if we are struggling to get our bodies to do what we want them to do. She has so much experience teaching and performing but brings excitement and enthusiasm to each class. We are very lucky to have her in Seattle!
