You're snowed in, you're out of gas, in the warmth of your own environment, have brewed some hot tea and dream of a handy lesson to work on in the comfort of your own home... Yet you live far from a good music teacher? This musical 'correspondence course' is the answer for those living in remote areas. It's even better than YouTube lessons or online lessons because there are so many adjustable variables. Included in this program are your custom choice of tunes we analyze and teach back to you. Or you can just go with some of our favorite repertoire. Also various tempos on cd of the material with background accompaniment makes it so much more fun than a metronome. We'll even provide some sheet music and/or tab to get you started, not to mention helpful tips on enhancing your right and left hand technique. We use email or postal mail (shipping and handling costs depending on where you live). Email us soon for additional details!
Hands-on instruction is best of course, but this is just the solution for those who are taking a hiatus, can't get to lessons on a regular basis, to become inspired with new repertoire, or for those needing to stay in shape and learn a few interesting tunes in the interim!

Barbara Collins is one of the best fiddlers in the region, and one of the best teachers. I would highly recommend her for gaining a solid foundation in a particular style of fiddling (she's accomplished in many styles including jazz and classical violin). She's extremely patient at building confidence and inspires her students to improvise. I like very much that she teaches how to read musical notation in the style that it should be played. Improvisation has always been a hurdle for me, but now, after lessons with Barbara, I enjoy the challenge. I particularly find the opportunity of playing with a backup sound track that she provides and hearing her harmony to the melodies a wonderfully enriching experience. It's a rare treat to play with such a fine musician.
