Hello! My name is Diane Lovejoy, and I have been a performer and teacher of the violin for 28 years, having started my training and love affair for the instrument in NYC. Having performed and taught all over the states I currently teach in the Beaverton area, in OR.
In my studio - which is pronounced Seg-way - I use a variety of music best for each individual student. I have found the VIP Rainbow Tones series to be a most enjoyable way to start for students (and their parents!) and I am certified in this wonderful method. Suzuki materials and other standard repertoire are also part of the Segue training.
Over the years my students, ranging in age usually from 6 through adult, have performed in many venues. Young players have enjoyed membership in the Portland youth orchestras, while adult students learn for the pure joy of making music a part of their lives, knowing that age is no barrier. Many adults in my studio played years ago and are starting again, never having lost their love for playing the violin.
An interest in the physical challenges students are presented with led me to become a licensed Brain Gym Instructor, and the results are nothing short of amazing! For more ... www.BrainGym.org
All over the world, professionals and students alike have agreed that incorporating a few simple Brain Gym movements into their day helps them focus and play with more ease and confidence.
[Note to teachers; I am offering a Brain Gym workshop in January 2010 in Portland for studio and class music teachers. Feel free to call for more information. If you are a member of ASTA, the Sept newsletter will have additional information.]
Everyone, enjoy your musical adventure!

Notes:
Lesson fees are reasonable (so I've been told!) and since those fees are subject to change (up or down!) it's best to just email for more information. But lessons are per a 4 week month and my studio mostly follows the local school district's holiday schedule.

Diane is very patient and kind. She has a wonderful studio in her home that is calm and helps my 9 year old - Tara, keep her focus. The Brain-Gym exercises help Tara immensely and give her more control and confidence in her playing. Tara has been taking lessons for 4 years now and really enjoys it. She loves the recitals they have and is always enthusiastic about her lessons. Diane is very supportive and works with each student at their own pace. She only pushes as far as they can handle and is very flexible. We love her and will continue lessons with her for as long as she will have us. Tara says "I am very grateful to have a violin teacher as wonderful as Diane". What more can we say?

Diane Lovejoy has been teaching my young man for four years now . She is so good with children ,he looks forward each Tuesday for his lesson. Her approach uses a technique, Brain Gym, which helps the students focus . It helps Taylor get through a stumbling block . I have seen first hand the benefits of Brain Gym and the steady progress he has made.
