Helena Emery was born and raised in Finland and started studying music and violin at age six. She has been first violinist and concert mistress of several different orchestras, and has taught lessons for over a decade to students of all ages. She has recorded soundtracks for movies and videogames, performed with groups such as Queensryche and Bridgeport Saints, and released two CDs of her own. Helena believes that learning an instrument should be a fun, interactive experience. She encourages her students to interpret music as they feel it, starting at a very early age. She includes rhythm and ear training, music history, and musical terminology in her lessons.

Helena Emery was sthe perfect violin teacher for us. She taught not just to play the notes, but how to play them with feeling. She taught us to connect to each piece of music and to each composer. She took the challange of teaching two adults and she won! Not a day goes by that we do not remember the great teaching that we recieved. Our highest reccomendation. As an adult beginner, Helena Emery made my introduction to violin challenging, satisfying and tantalizing. I always looked forward to my weekly lessons, which continued for the first three years of my violin studies. Her solid foundation in technical expertise, ergonomics, intonation, and systematic approach, combined with enthusiasm amd empathy made my lessons unforgettable. For me it was akin to being in the presence of greatness. When we played duets, no matter how simple the melodies, the heavens opened and I know we heard the sounds of angels singing. I highly recommend that you consider Helena as an instructor.
