Svaroopa Yoga - the essence of your being, that's Svaroopa.

This practice strips away the layers of tension; the contraction melts way as you learn how to soften into supported angles. The angles are precise & reliable. Suitable for all levels of yogi's, from beginners to advanced yogis

Those who meditate, love Svaroopa Yoga. The reason is because they are able to sit longer in meditation after they do a Svaroopa sequence up the spine. The body is open & comfortable, therefore it is easier to sit for longer periods of time.

Experienced yogi's will also enjoy the way this gentle practice has such a profound affect on the body/mind - and you don't have to work so hard!

Yoga Sutra's as translated by B.K.S Iyengar - this is chapter 2 -47. Perfection in an asana is achieved when the effort to perform it becomes effortless and the infinite being within is reached

Of course, there are different approaches or ways to achieve this goal of effortlessness. Svaroopa Yoga seems to excel at teaching this philosophy, which flies in the face of much of what we have learned about fitness & strength & even yoga.

This is another way to describe Svaroopa Yoga poses - We use simple poses in a way that reaches into your spine & releases tension in the muscles connected to the spine. We start by releasing the tension at the base of your spine (the tailbone) & then do a pose for each part of the spine in sequence. The result is a more flexible, relaxed, decompressed spinal column, which has an affect throughout your entire body - but more importantly, the changes in your body have a profound affect on your mind and emotions and even more......

    This is such a great class I have signed up my two adult children and after only two classes they are out of pain and looking forward to class. They are considering 2 classes a week and my daughter may even go into teaching! Highly recommended!

    I always feel really great after my Svaroopa Yoga class with Janis Desmond. I'm relaxed, my mind is calm and I just feel good. Janis is able to give individual attention to her students because class sizes are relatively small. I've also had a private session with Janis and the results were fantastic. When I practice with Janis, I carry the benefits of her class with me for several days.
