Imagine the shape of an old fashioned hour glass. The neck, thoat and jaw area, like the neck of an hour glass, is a narrow channel between the mind and the heart. All blockages, injuries, degeneration, even unexpressed feelings clog up that narrow region and prevent the fine sand (Light) from flowing from the mind to the heart and back again. Congestion in the neck and jaw block the communication between the mind and the heart. Tightness in the neck and jaw can be the root of many physical symptoms. Vision problems, ear and hearing problems and many seemingly un-related physical problems can all result from tightness in the jaw.

We will briefly review the basic anatomy of the neck. We will use meditation techniques to open up the energy of the jaw and throat. We will be doing some partner work with gentle traction using the wall rope system and other traction methods as well as other exercises to free up tightness in the neck, create space between the bones and stretch the tight muscles.

This workshop would be suitable for people who have had neck injuries, neck tightness, degeneration of the discs or bones in the neck, TMJ (temporal mandibular joint dysfunction) or even difficulty expressing their ideas or emotions. Or, those of us who would like to strengthen communication between the mind and the heart.

  • "The Best on the Eastside"

Review of Yoga Centers, September 22, 2009

Yoga Centers offers the best yoga instruction anywhere in the Seattle Metropolitan area. It is located in Bellevue and worth crossing the 520 or 90 to attend classes there. The teachers are all highly trained, effective and the space has an incredible, light feeling about it.

  • "Amazing Place for Healing"

Review of Yoga Centers, January 22, 2009

I came to Yoga Centers in 1993 having read the impressive bio of Aadil Palkhivala. I thought, "sounds impressive, but let's see who this person actually is." I was stunned to find out that he is all his bio proclaims and more. I found that the yoga classes helped me find more life in my body than any other exercise I had done, my low back pain changed dramatically, and I was inspired to grow as a human being.

Once I added the astonishingly profound meditation classes taught by Mirra, my life changed forever. I found a deeper meaning and purpose to my life than ever before, and am honored and deeply grateful to be part of this most beautiful community of owners, teachers, staff and students.
